Latifundist.com started a new season of AgroExpedition Sowing 2020.
For the first time in the history of the project, AgroExpedition team does not visit agricultural enterprises. Under quarantine conditions, the news from fields come on-line.
In recent years, there is a tendency for a slight increase in cultivated areas in Ukraine. After the decline in 2014/15 to 26.7 mln ha, areas under crops again started showing positive dynamics: last year they were 27.8 mln ha.
If compared with recent years, the area of arable farmland has slightly increased. The structure of cultivated areas has also changed.
According to forecasts of the Ministry for the Development of Economy, Trade and Agriculture of Ukraine, this year the area under the main spring crops (10 crops) should be 15.26 mln ha, 0.3 mln ha more from 2019. At that, an increase of corn and sunflower share in the structure of crops is expected, whereas barley, soybeans and sugar beet areas may be reduced. Ukrainian agricultural producers are 100% provided with seeds and 81% provided with mineral fertilizers for spring fieldworks.
As of April 16, agrarians planted 4.8 mln ha (2.1 mln ha per week) of spring grains, legumes and industrial crops, which is 32% of the planned 15.3 mln ha. Also, the agrarians have practically completed sowing peas and oats.
